Two years ago I got some truly wonderful granite countertops for my kitchen with an amorphous pattern that suggested both Chinese landscapes and French cave paintings. This and the following piece (which face each other) are from Lascaux and Chauvet Pont d'arc, adapted, of course. I was stunned by how modern these prehistoric paintings look, rather like Picasso in one of his phases.  Together, they took me about a year to make, with time off for a broken arm.
